Mass Burials

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/28/japan.funerals/index.html

The tsunami keeps hurting people long after they and the tsunami are gone! Mass Burials are being done instead of the highly ritualized funerals that culturally would be done:
  • Buddhist funerals typically are highly ritualized
  • The town of Kamaishi lacks the resources to cremate the dead
  • The bodies must be buried in mass graves to prevent a disease outbreak
  • Officials say the mass burials are temporary

Obama charms Brazilians during two-day visit, observers say By Helena de Moura, For CNN

(CNN) -- Brazil's cool and contentious relationship with the United States over trade and foreign policy has warmed a few degrees, analysts said Sunday, as President Barack Obama's visit appeared to charm officials and crowds during his two-day visit to South America's largest nation.
Sustained applause echoed through Rio de Janeiro's Municipal Theatre as Obama spoke a few words in Portuguese, made allusions to Brazilian culture and drew parallels to U.S. history.
I happened to see this on tv in a spanish channel and if they could change presidents they would take Obama in a heart beat! They loved him and even did this song to greet him. He was only taken to the streets that were fixed up not the ghetto. Even though you might think he was there, there are worst poorer places

Miner after miner

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Four missing coal miners have "very little chance" for survival in a southwest Pakistan mine that collapsed after a methane gas explosion Sunday, a government official said.
At least 48 of the 52 miners in the mine were confirmed dead, but just 28 of the bodies had been recovered by Monday evening, according to Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, the minister for irrigation in Balochistan province.
"There is very little chance of survival for remaining four," he said Monday.
The mine in the Soringe area, 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) east of Quetta, caved in Sunday after the explosion.
I don't know when we will be able to use other kinds of fuels or energy, to fully replace all of our needs, and stop having people die in one of the most horrible ways. No oxygen, no light, in a closed area, and were not able to say good bye. Chile was very lucky!

DEVASTATION IN JAPAN

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/11/japan.quake/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1

Haiti, Costa Rica and now Japan it is hard to look at this scientifically when you see many people dying. Yes of course tec-tonic plates are moving and the world is changing but in that happening lives are taken. When the earth decides to tear its land it happens to bring people together, while the world is separating it self we the people bring it together by helping each other.

This is where I am glad to be an american. Many people think that America should stay out of other countries and fix its on problems and yes we have enough to keep us busy but this is where we reach out to the world and show that we are not as selfish as we look. We do take things from other countries but we also go around and give back.
