The tsunami keeps hurting people long after they and the tsunami are gone! Mass Burials are being done instead of the highly ritualized funerals that culturally would be done:

• Buddhist funerals typically are highly ritualized
• The town of Kamaishi lacks the resources to cremate the dead
• The bodies must be buried in mass graves to prevent a disease outbreak
• Officials say the mass burials are temporary
