51 hostages rescued in Mexican border city, government says

CNN) -- Mexican federal police rescued 51 migrant hostages who were being held in northeastern Mexico, the country's public security ministry said Tuesday.
The hostages were found Monday inside a house in the city of Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas.
The operation followed the rescue of 68 hostages the previous week, also in Reynosa. The city is about 90 miles north of the town of San Fernando, where authorities recently uncovered 177 bodies from mass graves. Many of the bodies are believed to be those of bus passengers who were kidnapped. San Fernando is also where the bodies of 72 migrants were found last year.
Among the rescued people this week, police identified 27 Mexicans, 14 Guatemalans, two Hondurans, two Salvadorans and six Chinese.
The state of Tamaulipas, where Reynosa and San Fernando are located, is the site of a bloody battle between rival drug cartels. The Gulf cartel and Zetas cartel used to work together, but split more than a year ago and are now fighting for control of lucrative smuggling routes into the United States.
My surprise are the six Chinese! They are suppose to have their own coyotes in china to get them in the US?

Becoming a saint is a lot of money and a long process.

Rome (CNN) - The beatification of Pope John Paul II this Sunday will probably be the biggest event in Rome since his death in April 2005, with at least 300,000 people expected to turn out for the ceremony and more than 2 million to take part in beatification-related activities in Rome, including a vigil service on Saturday in Rome’s Circus Maximus and visits to John Paul’s tomb.

Becoming a saint is very costly for all catholics in the world, but if you are catholic it is worth it, as it would be in other religions.

Mass Burials

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/28/japan.funerals/index.html

The tsunami keeps hurting people long after they and the tsunami are gone! Mass Burials are being done instead of the highly ritualized funerals that culturally would be done:
  • Buddhist funerals typically are highly ritualized
  • The town of Kamaishi lacks the resources to cremate the dead
  • The bodies must be buried in mass graves to prevent a disease outbreak
  • Officials say the mass burials are temporary

Obama charms Brazilians during two-day visit, observers say By Helena de Moura, For CNN

(CNN) -- Brazil's cool and contentious relationship with the United States over trade and foreign policy has warmed a few degrees, analysts said Sunday, as President Barack Obama's visit appeared to charm officials and crowds during his two-day visit to South America's largest nation.
Sustained applause echoed through Rio de Janeiro's Municipal Theatre as Obama spoke a few words in Portuguese, made allusions to Brazilian culture and drew parallels to U.S. history.
I happened to see this on tv in a spanish channel and if they could change presidents they would take Obama in a heart beat! They loved him and even did this song to greet him. He was only taken to the streets that were fixed up not the ghetto. Even though you might think he was there, there are worst poorer places

Miner after miner

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/21/pakistan.mine.blast/index.html?hpt=Sbin
Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Four missing coal miners have "very little chance" for survival in a southwest Pakistan mine that collapsed after a methane gas explosion Sunday, a government official said.
At least 48 of the 52 miners in the mine were confirmed dead, but just 28 of the bodies had been recovered by Monday evening, according to Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, the minister for irrigation in Balochistan province.
"There is very little chance of survival for remaining four," he said Monday.
The mine in the Soringe area, 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) east of Quetta, caved in Sunday after the explosion.
I don't know when we will be able to use other kinds of fuels or energy, to fully replace all of our needs, and stop having people die in one of the most horrible ways. No oxygen, no light, in a closed area, and were not able to say good bye. Chile was very lucky!

DEVASTATION IN JAPAN

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/11/japan.quake/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1

Haiti, Costa Rica and now Japan it is hard to look at this scientifically when you see many people dying. Yes of course tec-tonic plates are moving and the world is changing but in that happening lives are taken. When the earth decides to tear its land it happens to bring people together, while the world is separating it self we the people bring it together by helping each other.

This is where I am glad to be an american. Many people think that America should stay out of other countries and fix its on problems and yes we have enough to keep us busy but this is where we reach out to the world and show that we are not as selfish as we look. We do take things from other countries but we also go around and give back.

The reopening of the tourist sites

http://www.cnn.com/2011/TRAVEL/02/17/egypt.tourist.sites/index.html#

So Egypt is planning on reopening all of the tourist sites. But with all the reports of missing artifacts and an unstable country right now I believe that they should not open these sites and keep them under strict security. These are artifacts of history that should be kept in a safe place where the whole world can see them not some rich person who bought it of the black market. They should seriously think about this not only for the artifacts but for the tourists if any were to come. They also should be taken seriously and want nothing but their saftey.

The Hungry Cuban

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/americas/01/28/cuba.dissident.detained/index.html

This Man has recievd an award and has been detained for the same thing. I think he has shown great courage to prove his point but it might not last. He is either going to be killed by Fidel Castro or by hunger. He has been on more than 20 hunger strikes that is alarming in its self. Sometimes you just can't take on the world, that is Fidel Castor. How many times does he expect to be forgiven?

Listen to your People

http://www.cnn.com/2011/BUSINESS/01/28/switzerland.davos.ban.annan/index.html

As much as I like the idea of the UN being the UN for a reason. It takes more to than to just say to some one or ones to listen to your people and have them actually listen. Everyone is in their own world and for that reason we all think we know what is best for others or selfishly for us. In the end a country is made by it's people not by the leader. What good is it to be a leader and no group, that is not good. You would no longer be a leader. So as the U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said " Listen to your People".  I say the same!

Police Crack Down- Egypt

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/01/26/egypt.protests/index.html?hpt=C1

As Reported in CNN - Protesters had been expressing their anger over the rising cost of living, failed economic policies and corruption, but all those concerns were distilled into one overriding demand: the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak, a reliable American ally who's been in power for three decades.

This is where the rule that US has on Presidents only being in office two terms comes to place. One caption in the pictures says that they want to have term limits of Presidents. This is a country that has been a US Ally for a while now. This has gone as far as blocking twitter and other social internet pages so people do get together and come up with this big plan.

There are rights not given to these people that the US does have but I guess that happens all over the world. one example is Freedom of Speach.

So many people were injured and at least 4 died becuase of the police and protestors getting out of hand. and It was Police Day in Egypt a celebrated holiday!!!
